High winds and high stakes are nothing new to Paula Rosales.

No two days on the water are ever the same. The wind changes direction, strength, and mood, often without warning. At first, this unpredictability frustrated me. I would get upset when I nail a trick and the next day I can't even do it properly. Over time, it taught me adaptability and resilience. In a business context, change is constant, markets shift, teams evolve, and challenges arise unexpectedly. The wind has taught me to welcome these changes as opportunities to grow, adjust, and innovate. It’s not about controlling the wind, but learning how to work with it and keeping your cool, at all times.

The Story behind the lens

This featured photo here is one of the most published photos from the our photoshoot in Amanpulo by Jack Johns. Let me tell you something about this photo. I was sh*tting my pants! It was too windy and i did not have time to get a smaller kite and we were chasing the golden sunset hour to get this backlit shot. The wind was too strong and gusty that none of my jumps were being executed consistently in front of this amazing photographer who has been standing in the wind for a good hour. These's are one of those moments that i just go for it with the eye on the prize (the nice sunset photo) even if i was sh*t scared. I fell a dozen of times before this shot was taken, the photos before and after were also "kind of" off. Even this one if you get really technical with it (since i missed"grabbing" my board). But everything else around this photo felt magical to a viewer and we ran with it.

For founders, change is a constant companion, markets evolve, teams change, and new challenges arise. Instead of resisting uncertainty, what if you could embrace it?The wind’s lesson is to stay flexible. When you accept that you can’t control everything, you open up to new paths and creative solutions.

Practical Steps:

  • Encourage a culture where change is seen as growth, not threat.

  • Run “what if” scenarios with your team to build resilience.

  • Celebrate adaptability and learning from mistakes.

Embracing change isn’t about being reckless—it’s about being ready to adjust your sails and keep moving forward, no matter which way the wind blows.

Let’s explore how to make your team more adaptable and resilient. Book a discovery session with me and start turning uncertainty into your organization’s greatest asset.
